Well, I am so inspired to play with these tin covers that Lucy created. I have scraps that would be perfect. I'm going to make some for my deck. I think the plants on my tables would look playful and fun with these creations, not to mention pretty.
I'm working on some baby hats for my daughters photography studio also. I included a pic below. I cut apart a vintage pearl necklace she found on one of her treasure hunts. They snuggled in to the stitches for some bling. I think they show up a little in the one photo. Have a great week everyone! :) P

Sakura Koi Watercolor Play

With coupon in hand I got my new set of Sakura Koi Watercolors. They are so wonderful. Strong, bold or transparent technique, they are a dream to work with. This field set has been on my wish list for a long time. I can't believe I got them 40% off. Being under the weather today, has given me a little time to just be and take things slow. My IMAGINE cup full of fresh brewed coffee and toying with sketched ideas. It's a bright beautiful Fall day here, and sitting here by the window is making my muse tap dance. I have been having so much fun with my Pitt pens and watercolors. Just doodling, zendoodling or what ever we might call it. My Micron pens have even been busy. It's terrible windy here and I tried enjoying the sunny weather on the deck, but it actually blew my pens off my end table out there, so I had to come in. Hope you enjoy seeing what I'm working on. Halloween Zendoodle

Pretty scrap paper and my favorite Pitt pens. Zendoodle fun. Just thought I'd share something I played with today. Home helping my Mr. recoupe from a couple surgeries. He's doing really well, and doing even better now that he's home. He had a colon resection and then they went in again, because of a twisted bowel. He's pretty weak from loosing 28lbs in 20 days. It was the ice chip diet. :) It was not cancer, so we can bounce back from this. We're a team. Thanks for dropping by! Hug, P

O Yes, I Feel Fall

I love this pic, I'm so ready for Fall. Today it hit me like a ton of bricks. Very chilly and crisp weather. There's rain on the way. But, a sweatshirt and throw helped me enjoy my quickly cooling coffee this a.m. on the deck. It was fabulous. I'm off to see my hubby, who has had quite a long bought in the hospital. But, things are looking up now and I didn't have to rush this morning. I have been torn between work and him and stuff on the home front. So ... I'm grateful for this morning. I hope all is well with everyone, I feel like the up coming season lends itself better to browsing and blogging and creative options. Tonight I'm going to spend times visiting and see what I've been missing. I do have the creative things I've been working on, and hope to have time for that tomorrow morning. For now enjoy the Fall weather and the stirring of your creative muse. :) P

My Favorite Black Pen Morning

Here is some fun doodles I worked on this a.m. I have tons of archival safe scrapbook paper and decided to look at them differently. I like adding color to my doodles, and thought I would try doodling on already prepared paper. I sometimes paint back ground paper using different mediums, and they doodle later. This was ready to go and so fun. I think it evn made the doodles pop. My friends daughter has a new interest. Octopus. Hmmm? But, she loves my zens so I agreed. I looked at lots of pictures and it was a real struggle for me. It's kind of out of my comfort zone, yet I like how it turned out. It was the usual fun playing with zentangles. Anyway, I hope she likes it. Here it is Jenny, if you drop by.
This Spring has flown by. Busy, busy and more busy. I hope that July will take a slower pace. I don't get much posting done, but surf around and drop by all my favs. The weather has been way past "REALLY WET". Icky, stormy, muggy. This year is flying by. I can't believe I haven't blogged more. FB has been my quick communication tool, but it doesn't take the place of blogging. In fact I been thinking of bowing out of FB world. I want to get back to the calm of blog hopping and enjoying what everyone is up to. I have been being creative, just not as many pics and projects. LOL

Wow ... life has been busy. Just wanted to pop in and let everyone know I'm still creating, just differently. It involves a bedroom redo, clear down to the original plaster, crocheting, painting another chair for my daughters studio. In the process of picking paint for my bathroom spruce up. I'm also changing hours at work and will be working 4 ten hour days. Same as my hub. We can take one of our vehicles off the commute and I'll have three day weekends. Yipppeee. I'm so looking forward to it. I wish I could say I've accomplished the pictured pile of pretties, but, it is just an inspirational pic that I love. Until later, hugs, P

As part of learning new things this year, I have taken up crochet. It's really really fun. The photo below is one of the headbands I made for my daughter to use in her photography studio. Playing With Tangled Yarn

Where I work always has a hat and mitten drive before Christmas. I always buy several and participate. I had this brain storm after Christmas that I would put my minimal crochet skills to good use. I had a stash of yarn from a garage sale last summer. It came in a basket that I bought. Well, it was a little bitty musty, but I aired it for months and it was fine to work with. So I made a bunch of hats for next year. Washed them and will store until next year. As you can see, the colors are cheerful and bright and I know they will keep some little ones head warm when they need it.

Well, that's what I've been up to. My goal was 18 by the end of Jan. I'm on 14, but running out of yarn. I may get some more, I'll see. I'm kind of in the mood to do some painting. Bright, bold, wild colors keep finding there way on to my pallette. Hmmm??? My muse must be thinking summer beachy pool thots. LOL :) Later, P

Had a great time and a new learning experience. My friend offered to show my daughter and I how to decorate simple cookies and cupcakes. Word got around at work and Ya Hooey ... we had a party thing going on. It was so much fun. However, quite messy. Next time we are not doing it on a week night. Lot more complicated than it appears. Where have I been. I didn't realize I hadn't posted for so long. With FB and shopping, baking, wrapping, celebrating ... I just didn't have time. It's hard to believe it's all over. We had a Christmas Eve day snow event and I'm sharing a couple pics of Grepa and Marley with their version of a sleigh ride. LOL It was so fun.

I'm Doing the Happy Dance

O Yes ... I'm happy dancing. I have finished my last order before the snow flies. No more have to paints and I'm feeling great about that. I know you all know the feeling of getting you painted request done. Pictured is a gift my friend is giving her sister for Christmas. She has a doll collection I guess. It was a struggle for me, because it's not my palette choice. But, it turned out nice. Whew!

Our love bug is pictured, dancing like a princess for Grempa! That's what she calls him. LOL I wish I could share them dancing together, they are a couple of movers and shakers. I laugh to hard to hold the camera tho. Such a tiny package can create so much fun and joy.

Craft Fair Pics

My pictures didn't turn out very good. But, I was lucky to get these. As soon as 8 a.m. rolled around we were steadily busy at the craft sale the entire day. I was pleased with the outcome. It was a lot faster leaving than setting up. I was blessed to sell a lot of items. Yeah! It was an interesting day, saw many people I haven't seen for quite some time. That's always a joy. The sale itself was held in the lobby of a medical office building. It was a nice open bright area. The day flew by. I feel truly blessed. Happy Thanksgiving to all, enjoy the holiday. :) Hug, P

I think the picture below has inspired me to expand my hankie collection. Then make an awesome valance for my studio. I currently have an apron as a curtain. I think with the new year just around the corner, it will be something new for my fun space. It will put new life in my treasurer hunting escapades also. LOL Has anyone made one?

I've been busy zentangling. So fun and relaxing. I like messing with the detail of painting them with watercolor and inks. I have to use a dip pen to get into some areas. Whew, complicated but way neat. The Medical Center where I work is having an employee craft show. So I'm going to give it a shot. I have not done a show in a very long time. It will be fun, because there will be a lot of talent at this event. If I don't get back to posting before Thanksgiving I want you all to know that I'm so thankful for you and comments and our little creative world out here on the big blue web. Whimsy Skate

Hello out there to my fellow creatives. It's rainy and I'm loving my time in the studio. Cozy, inspiring and fun. I have included a photo of an old skate I turned new. I'm going to add greens and some whimsical sparkly something in with it. The other one is not in good shape, but, I'm going to do something funky whimsical with it too. They will sell seperate, with a cute look to hang on a door or anywhere instead of a wreath. The other picture is of an easel magnet board my love created for me. It will be easily transported and hauled around. I think it makes my jumbo magnets pop. Yeah! One more coat of black and some sealer, and good to go. A little painting spell. This little Raggedy Annie Witch is too cute to scare anyone. She was so fun to paint. I've had a busy week, painting a sign with just lettering for a sportsmen group. My husband is on the committee or I wouldn't have done it. To much painting inside the lines. LOL The weather has been beautiful and it's inspired me to thing Fall things. Yeah.
My little netbook that I carry around with me was looking a little worn and scuffed. But ModPodge and some pretty paper changed that. I found an old wood cigar box, and have had it laying around. I was experiementing with gel medium resist. Some pretty papers, ink, paint, and stamping. TaDa a new treasure box. I love playing with mixed media collage pieces. I used a new paint to me from Golden on the inside fisish coat. It's an irradesant pearl. So pretty and fun. I'm going to need the big bottle now. Little Witchys Are Appearing in My Studio

Not many, but, there are spooky little flutters in my studio lately. I'm hoping to work on some more this weekend. It's been a busy summer. I am really feeling the pull to get back in and pick up my brushes and play. I do create everyday mainly getting ephemera and embellishments ready for collage. I just can't sit. I'm always thinking about what I can do to create something new.
Lot's of splashing go on this summer around here. Hope you are all enjoying this get out in the heat weather. I'm not. Ick. I'd rather have a bon fire and sweatshirt. Giggle. The only thing that can get me out is me and Marley splashing in her pool. Ha!

Another Teenager in the Family & Art Play

Just thought I'd drop a post. We celebrated our grandson's birthday yesterday. It was so hot. We had a family gathering and Noah, Mar and a few others swam away the heat. We in the shade were sweltering. Ick. Happy B-day to my favorite grandson on the planet.
I've been very busy with creating. I am posting some little magnets that came out of playing with paper and ModPodge. Also, included is one of my Zentangle matted and framed. I just love the basic colors and couldn't find a mat to make it pop, so I bought a precut to the right size and painted it to give the art some punch. I'm going to do more of this. Customizing my mats will give me more control of color. YeeAAH!

A Rain Storm, Visitors, Fun and Art ... Whew!

We've had a busy day. I got time in the studio, came in showered and changed, did some pics of this weeks projects and a great fancy breakfast by my sweet. He's such a chef. Some friends and kids dropped by and we made pizza and the guys did a little hammering in the garage. They all left, I finished up my laundry and clean bedding and now I'm sharing some pics with you.
I'm so loving working with paper and paints lately, I also switch over to some doodles and watercolors. Anything artsy, I play with it. I'm kind of stocking up for a little "One of a Kind" garage sale with a few other people this Fall. We have a good location in Btown and I just keep producing and tucking it away. If it doesn't come to pass, there's always Ebay! LOL.
I've been playing with this "A Little Birdy Told Me" and doodling some birdies. They are now popping out in my creations.

What a super busy week we've had. Helping with a complete tear everything out, replace, paint, prime, flooring and holy moly is my daughter and granddaughter task masters. LOL It's amazing what can be accomplished when everyone does what they can. Tay's new place is going to be amazingly cool. Love the colors she picked, her and Ma picked awesome flooring and carpet. Now her and Mar can have a new safe place. Thank God we are blessed with awesome friends and family that are multi-talented in almost everything. Yeah!!!
John and I managed to work in a complete redo of two areas of dig out and redo mulch and freshen for flower areas and a place for our tomatoes. Mow, weed and feed the lawn, two new trees, and last evening the few minutes of relaxation on the deck was so rewarding. Grps got Mar a rockin' purple dino and it was a huge hit. She rocked and rocked and rocked. We all hit the sack a little after nine and didn't get up until almost 7. We were all so tired. Mom, Popa and Nana were still working on the house until late. Kitchen and bathroom floor, leaking toilet and then it's ready to move in. So we were the lucky ones, snoring, while they were finishing up and checking out the new flooring. LOL
Also ... in the collage, you will see I redid the chair. I thought it was just too busy and gessoed it and did something totally different. Just on the back and seat. I think it will look darling on a porch or garden. Well, keep creating ... Hug, P.

things and things and things. I guess I should post what I'm working on. I am totally just having fun and exploring new products and drawing inspiration from other on line artists. It's just never ending out here in this magical community of talent. I used to rely on art magazines and articles and books to be inspired. I feel so blessed to have so many online friends and people to share with and absorb from. It's so much more intimate than magazines and stuff. I have a weekend to work more on some projects and will get some pics to post. I have been stocking up on sales for canvas' and my watercolor paper. I've even bought more organizers for my papers. I try so hard, but the teeny studio always looks like a creative explosion. I need to build on my studio. LOL Until later, P.

I'm so having fun with a package of 3 canvas boards I found buried in the studio. LOL I'm using up paper scraps and creating backgrounds using different things. Truly just playing. I love finding little snippets or quotes I've written down and making a painting from that. Well, I better get going to work. Folkart Collage

I did get some pictures taken of things I've been working on. This is a folkart mixed media piece. It's a 8x10 matted to 11x14. I used Golden paints, paper scraps and ink. I love cutting the tiny pieces of papers (like for the roofs). I sometimes like to be detailed. Sometimes not. Anyway, just wanted to share. :) Hug

Zentangle Doodles in Progress

Well I picked a word from my prompt jar this week and it was "believe". So I set my Pitt pen to doodling, the picture is what came out. I love this doodling. It's fast, gets the creative juice rolling and then when time permits, you can play with watercolors too. I plan on being in the studio all day. Yesterday, was a play day with my little bundle of darlingness. We had so much fun. She had a small new bucket, and collected almost all the "yallo" flowers from the back yard. She included some beautiful cement chips from when we finished the garage floor, and loves bossing the dogs. I love watching her explore stuff. Busy busy busy! Well maybe I'll have some more art photos later.
I'm so worrying about all our nings. I hope we can all keep our creative outlets, without too much expense. There's so much buzz in the newsletters about it. I'm sure we'll find a way to keep things rolling, I'm busy adding more to my favorites instead of relying on members at the nings. We'll have to blog hop more and work things out that way. I hope we don't loose many members. I love being part of such wonderful groups of talented, inspiring, kind, fun gals. I plan to financially support as much as I can. So dig in, there's hundreds of us and we can keep things rolling at each of our favorite places. Just something to think about! Until later, ") P

Collage Squared

I've been making some collage pieces on wood. 3.5 x 3.5 pieces. Some 3.5x 6 too. It's so fun. I had these epoxy stickers from Fiskar and they worked out perfect for some embellishment. I have a couple 8 x 10 mixed media pieces I'm working on too. I have been playing a lot in studio in the evenings. I love trying brighter colors and neat papers. I've been too long in the prim/antiqued palette. It so fun for me, evolving and opening up to other techniques and colors. Maybe it's the Spring fresh weather. Cleaning and brightening up around the house. Whatever it is ... it's so fun. Until later ... :) P

We are truly, way past, blessed. Super Easter day, good food, family and fun. A thunderstorm rumbled through and then a lot of sunshine, so we got to enjoy the outdoors. Playing with My Watercolors

My daughter wanted me to color a zentangle. I love the black and white normally. So I got out my liner brushes and started with some ATCs. I couldn't stop. It was so fun. Now I'm searching all over the studio for more of my doodles to paint in. LOL
I'm also working on a bedside table for my little bundle darlingness. It's pink and brown and she soon will have a new room. I want to find a wood head board to re-do for her too. I'll start her dresser as soon as we get it out or storage. Errands to run ... be back later. P :)

Mixed Media Flowers

I've been working on mixed media flowers. I swear the blowing snow didn't stick because of it. I also got some backgrounds started and a redo for my living room.
I've also been on the look out for a 6 x 6 frame and can't find one. I guess I'll just have to have a custom frame for my little prim from an earlier post.

Sunshine in the Studio ... Hurray!

Well it's been awhile since I've posted, but I have been creative. Mainly in the organizing new supplies, ideas, sketching and cleaning out the studio. My things get out of hand fast. When you are putting away and going over your stash you get side tracked. Ideas flow, you come across projects you need to finish, or start. I know you all know what I'm talking about. One thing leads to another and before you know it you have the brushes, glue, paints, markers, colored pencils and all your new supply of canvas, paper and journals begging for attention. LOL Our creative spaces have a life of their own and they bid us come in, then we're lost in fun and play.
I repainted a little angel that hangs on my studio porch. She was a gift along time ago and was getting a little weathered. I freshened her up with a new coat of polka-dots and her face had almost disappeared so I brought it back to life and added a little flower on wire.

I also got some zentangle doodles done for posting on my favorite group sites. Some are from circle prompts or challenges. The two posted are almost complete. I'm loving my new Pitt pens. They are wonderful, but I still resort to my Microns for the 005 details. I can't do without it. Some handmade papers I ordered from Etsy came in the mail, and they are so neat. They are small pieces but I added some to my journal and I'm not sure what will be on them.

Lil Prim Portrait

I'm loving my day in the studio. It's peaceful and fun. I'm putting in a hard day of play. LOL I had made a littl "prairie portrait" for a prim friend. She liked it so much, I had to make 3 more. Her sister, sister-in-law and friend had to have one. Giggle. They were so fun I had make another for ebay. Pictured in my ebay offering. I have to get the frame yet. It's been another busy week, in a string of them. So I got directly out of bed and headed to the studio with a big mug of hot coffee. It doesn't get any better than that. I got my artsy head going and a way I went. I love when I get an idea and things go fast and good.
I'm loving the Plaid Modge Podge matte, it's perfect for my prim stuff. FolkArt's One Step Crackle is awesome. I won't use any thing else. You can see the crackle on the pictured portrait. It's as subtle as you want, or thicker and bolder. It's a perfect product with a little practice. I top with FolkArt antique medium. When completly dry. I use a top coat of matte varnish or bees wax. I don't use glass on my prairie portrait frames.

Sledding Through

This is a picture of a sign I did for Brandi's studio. I have been doodling and working in my journal, but I'm kind of in a creative fog. Darn! I'm still having keyboard problems and I'm just getting a new one. I just haven't decided which one.
I'm hoping while I'm visiting out here in our big art community that something will kick my muse in the behind. Until then I will continue getting rid of stuff that has over taken closets, drawers and shelves around here. My Lost Week

I've had a cold from you know where. It's awful. I swear my ribs are broken from coughing. I'm tired of winter, dreary grey bleak days. It seems so doom and gloomy. So I decided to post some eye candy. I plan on dropping in to get a breath of fresh air at my favorite blog stops. I am turning on the red pink black white valentine colors in my life. Not sure what will come of my mood, but maybe something. I'm going to do some valentine looksy and hopefully be inspired. Have a great rest of the week.

Aren't these darling, I got them on Ebay late last Fall. They are more darling in person, and they hang in my studio. They are my teeny tiny muses. I just love them. I don't remember now, who the artists were. But, they are very creative. Just a tiny bit of of whimsical sparkle to spark my imagination.
My week has been very busy so far. I have gotten some sketching done, I want to make some mixed media angels on canvas or board. So I'm seeing what I want to go with. I'm really enjoying the Art Journal uploads at Milliande. Very creative gals out there and journals are interesting me more and more. I haven't decided whether to share mine yet. New Year - New Beginning - New Me yada yada ... Every year I say things like that. Well like last year, I'm going to keep going in my quest for more art fun. Last year was simply amazing. Meeting new people, interaction on art communities, challenges. So, my super talented daughter got me this book for Christmas.(I should get her one back). I had wanted it for quite awhile. It is super fantastic. I am having so much fun with it. I'm going on an adventure with this book. A one year adventure. LOL I have chosen my word to represent my year and here it is ... "TRY". I'm going to try new techniques, new things, new places, new forms of art, new supplies, new dreams, ... on and on. You get the picture. If you see this book, pick it up, buy it. Very interesting.
The first new thing I'm trying is an art journal. I love working in it, and it's relaxing, challenging and surprising what comes out of my head. (Well, maybe not to some.) Giggle! So that's where I am right now.
I would also appreciate comments with your favorite quotes. I can go on line and find some that inspire me, but I thought it would be fun to have some from my online friends and art community. You can leave them here or on my Facebook wall. Well until later, Hug P

Canvas Angel Update

Well, I've made a little progress, they all have faces. LOL I need to add something, I don't have the feeling they are finished. But, for tonight they are.
There is a winter storm warning here until tomorrow night at midnight. Geez! It's like you're waiting for the gillotine to fall. LOL Supposedly 4 to 8", but nothing yet but flurries. So ... I'm hoping they are wrong once again.

A Little Angel/Muse for the Studio

My daughter gave me the cutest paper mache angel a couple years ago. She was for Christmas from the Mistletoe Manor line. I LOVED her. I hated putting her up. So when her tree came off and there was a tiny chip on her hand, I decided to alter her in to a year-round inspiration in my studio. Here she is in progress. The red and green and white colors are gone. She has a polka dot dress, orange glitter wings, some tatting for a collar, a halo from sparkle fiber that I wrapped around wire and glued. Don't you love her nose. The ribbon at the bottom of her dress, was a find in a tag sale box. I'm not sure she is done, but she's done for today. So here's the pics.

I also have some pics of my canvas angels closer to completion. I hope to post them later or tomorrow. I want to work on my zentangle 4x4 for a January swap on Milliande. Inspirational Quote Mini Journal

I'm working on a mini art journal and adding some of my favorite quotes. I have the base papers finally glued and a tiny bit of embellishment. They are 3" x 7 chipboard with a screw post. I hope to complete by spring. I'm also wanting to start a bigger art journal. I'm searching for one now. I really want a square one, but so far I've only found in the UK and they are expensive to mail. SO...we'll see. I would consider a handmade one if reasonably priced. I'm off the Etsy to see if there are any there. I hope you all are starting your new year out with a little creativity and some super fun vibes. I just feel like this year will be so creative, and can't wait to explore new things. My daughter has a different studio, and I know she's grown and stretched to amazing capabilities, so I'm sure this year will be full of a lot of fun for her. How about all of you? I was so sad that MLB Studio closed for the last time last night. I will miss playing there, but Moriah is going back to work and it's to hard to keep up and work too. Tiny Lil' Canvas Angels

My little bundle of darlingness went shopping with Mommy and Nana and friends last weekend. She went all evening until 11 p.m. Didn't want to miss anything. Checked out Santa and every decoration. Danced to Christmas music and did it all with a smile. They were shockd that she never went NiNi in her stroller. She's a trooper. Guess she might as well get broke in early to our goofy shopping extravaganzas. LOL Isn't she something? She barely got buckled in her car seat for home and she was out for the night. I love the look with Santa.

Zentangle Christmas Pixies

Just like all of you, I've been busy with the season. I love it, but I need to take a deep breath. We did get a chance to go out for supper with friends, got to gather with neighbors and friends for a benefit to support two dear children to us, who lost their father. He had long battle with cancer. In this economy it is incredible the turnout and generous nature of people.
I'm sharing some fun doodles I've gotten done. Those little pixies pop in even when I'm not mixed media focused. LOL. Gotta love 'em.

Almost Done with Art Tags

I remembered to take a picture of what I thought was the end of art tags for this year. I love making these, especially when they are for friends and coworkers and their families. These were a challenge for me because the foil paper Kelly W wanted me to use would then match her wrapping. I should have asked you guys for tips on working with foil, but I made it through. My usual adhesives didn't work the way I wanted, but my Golden mediums made all turn out for the best. I may even use more foil in the future.

Most importantly ... Kelly loved them.
I better get busy, a few more things left to accomplish before Christmas. I need to make a bag for the blocks I made several posts ago. I have them complete with their final coat of sealer. Keep the creative juices flowing. Until later - hug, P

Mixed Media Mood

I'm getting alot finished up this weekend. I had to drop studio time to take care of Tay and her little bundle of darlingness. They both have horrible colds and neither had had much sleep. They came over for a little grammy spoiling time. We had something to eat, Tay got a 4 hour nap, while darlingness and I kept busy. Whew...busy in capital letters. She was a little crabby, but after some whispers and rocking, she got in a two hour stuffy nose nap. Later in the eve they headed back across the bridge and Nana was going to love on them awhile.

I'm almost finished with my Christmas tag orders and I have an almost completed project for a friend done. Huge dome shaped flower pots that fit in some really eat stands. The stand is iron and looks like twigs ad leaves. A friends husband is having me paint the pots more to their colors for there deck. Kind of fun. Except heavy. I have also played with some mixed media pieces for a swap.

Why can't I flip pictures in blogger. Argghh!

Another zentangle. I'm loving this relaxing doodling. I worked on this at my break time at work. A little in the a.m. and finished in the afternoon. I'm also about finished with some background technique videos on You Tube. It's so fun and fast to learn new techniques and products that way. Well, I'm trying to wrap up (for real) my Christmas presents. Just a tiny bit to go. I want to get out to the studio and start some canvas projects. I've been in a bit of a productive funk, but I know I'll get over it by just going to the studio and sitting down. I have a cluster of ideas that I've absorbed from the tutorials I've watched. Grammy's Joy Turns ONE

We had a big turn out for our Little Miss Sunshine's 1st birthday party. It was very fun and she was well loved (spoiled) lol. She's an excellent party girl and was asleep as soon as her and Mom headed home. Actually before we put her in her car seat. She was so cute and it didn't take her long to dig into her own giant cupcake.

This little ACEO I call Do You Hear What I Hear? This pretty little girl can hear the church bells through the falling snow. I've been working on ACEOs and I'm in an ornment swap that I have to get in the mail by Dec. 1 for our on-line group. It will be so fun to see what I get. It's my first ornament swap.

I Love Art - He Loves Waterfowl Hunting

I forgot to post the pic of my hunters. They live for Waterfowl seasons. Now I don't understand the fun of getting up before daylight, dressing in layer upon layer of warm underwear, laying in the middle of a field in a lay down blind, or hanging out watching the sky from a cold blind, or cooking in the same on a propane cook stove. Brrrr! But ... it make him happy, so I say go have fun. Just like he does me, when I'm in a artsy fartsy mood.(His words not mine.) LOL This is them in the warmer early season this year.
Well, I got up early to get an hour in the studio this morning. Had to get some items varnished. They are drying as a type. I wanted to base coat some canvas' for a super fun project I'm doing for Miss Sunshines room. I have to stop and get a bigger one or two after work. I have a mixed media ideas brewing. Giggle! Progressive Pretties

Just a quick post on my progress. I'm done with these two pages and I'm off to decorate my princess of joys new bedroom. I have two bigger canvas' to do, curtains and so forth. So, no doodling today. We are hoping to make good progress and then get going on her play room curtains and straighten and make room for her birthday party next Friday. We're positive from family members and friends she is going to need playroom space. LOL She is so loved and well ... we hate to admit, spoiled. She doesn't seem to realize it, so we can probably keep it up for another year or so. She's very easy going and really takes everything in stride. It's all the people around her that thinks she has to have every little darling thing. Giggle! She is a huge fan of hardboard books. She spends a lot of time browsing through them like she's 6 or 7. Very darling to watch. Well, best get myself together and head out. It's going to be so fun. Until later, hug ... P

Doodling Zentangles

I have found the most fun, addictive doodling. On Melange or MLB Studio these are Ning social sites, where all kinds of artists and creative people interact. Anyway, I saw a link about Zentangles so I clicked on it and away I went to the land of Zentangles. Now I know there are serious methods of relaxation, healing and so forth that surround this art form, but I totally love it and you can do it anywhere. Google it in images and you will be totally surprised by the number of awesome doodles. I'm doodling and I keep a notebook handy, because it stirs all these creative ideas while you're doodling. Then you are more productive. The pictured doodles are in my art journal, the first is just my first attempt, I'm still doodling on, will post when finished. The other two were from prompts. One was nature, so I did a flower because it was easy. The other prompt was object. My coffee cup was sitting by me. So ... Just a fun simple, yet intricate way to have fun. I'm a full blown fan now. Actually the first attempt reminds me of the psychadelic days. Giggle. I like the zentangles from prompts better. LOL

On our way to Des Moines we stopped and shopped in Pella Iowa. It was really fun and darling little art shops and yuuuummmyy bakeries. We were litterly sore from laughing at each other. But, mostly they laugh there behinds off at me. They find me very entertaining for some reason. LOL I got some Christmas presents and we were on the road again. We all did an awesome job of getting our lists whittled down. I can honestly say I'm 90% done with great buys from the weekend. We shopped from morning until the stores closed and then the next day we went again and then headed for a mall outlet on the way to Iowa City. I can't wait to wrap and decorate now.
I'm seriously thinking of putting up my tree and decorating before Thanksgiving. Our family and friends come here for Thanksgiving and we go to my daughters for Christmas, so I think I should be decorated as a thanks for the complete season. That way I get to enjoy it longer. When you work, you only have evenings to absorb this wonderful time of year.
Also including a new picture of my family. They are all great and I love them all to the moon and back.
Well ... I'm off to my favorite spot to play, and hopefully create something fun. I picked up Kelli Rae Roberts book and I've been loving the inspiring read. Better get a copy or see more on our Facebook walls. She rocks creative!!!!!

And ... please remember my granddaughter Tay in your prayers. She has H1N1 and is miserable. Our princess of Joy hasn't seen her mom for 3 days. It's awful. Our little sweet stayed with her Auntie Tammy and her girls while we were away. She didn't miss us at all, her Papa picked her up and they were waiting for us when we were unloading the car. The whole neighborhood could hear her from the porch. "NAAANNNAA!!! LOL Amazing how those tiny little bodies can produce such a loud voice. LOL

Just Around the Corner

I know ... I'm really starting early. I just so love the upcoming holidays, that I'm like a little kid. My daughter, a friend and her daughter, and I are heading to Des Moines for shopping weekend. We struggled with where to go, but Des Moines has everything and it's less time on the road than Chicago, Kansas City or St. Louis. So...we are going into the shopping mode. My deadline for Christmas lists is tomorrow. So I hope my family is on the mark. LOL I do intend to get some new items for me too.

I'm posting one of my ACEOs to start off the season. I just love this little format and this face was just too cute. Since I was posting this piece, I had to update my blog to reflect my thrill for the Christmas spirit that's just around the corner. I have a lot of ideas flying around in my head. I'm looking forward to getting some time to play with all my new stuff I've been picking up.

Halloween Wrap Up 2009

What a great time. We enjoyed a great evening on the very banks of the good ole' Mississippi. A small community of cabin owners celebrated Halloween with a great party, parade, food and warm bon-fires. It was amazing the creative and fun things that transpired. Sunrise In the Studio

Whoaaa ... I was up early and with coffee in hand, I headed to the studio. I feel so much better and I just had to get up and create something. I started by taking a Halloween picture. Items for a friend. At least the pumpkins and the teeny tiny pinkeep. She also has a needle keeper here. Wonder who that is ... Brens Busy Hands?

Giggle. Poor thing is still down in the wrist from her fall. So I'm hoping these will cheer her up.

I also have some ACEOs that only need a few tiny touches and I hope to get them posted this week. Here goes the pixies and fairies. They are out of control in the studio. They are finding their way into my collages and everywhere. So ... I've got to get busy. I might send some things for a vendor night party that my daughter is going to. I don't know, I need to build up my ebay stash. We'll see. I do like a little bit of pressure to keep the creativity flowing. LOL
It was very cold, but I bundled up for about a half hour of sunrise ... watching through the steam coming off my insulated mug. Whew! In the very low 40's by my thermometer.Have a super weekend. Hugs to all of ya! P

Inspiring Mixed Media Pieces

The flu crept in this week. Uuugghhh! Headache and temperature, sore throat. Sleep, nap, body aches. I hope you can only get it once. Enough is enough. I did get some of my photos sorted on my computer tonight. Decided to post some things I had been working on. I'm so into mixed media on wood right now. I'm going to do some canvas too. I'm loving the painting and gluing and cutting. I just get lost in it. It's wonderful. I hope I feel more enthusiastic now. Leading to the flu, I was crabby, tired, I knew I was but couldn't do anything about it. I felt exhausted. The ole' me is back. Not the crabby me. LOL Actually, my Hub was the lucky one, who had to endure my grumpys. He's a trooper.

I have a couple more in the works, and hope to share more this weekend. It was a very rainy, gloomy day, but...that's OK. I hope to get out of the house tomorrow. I feel like a caged bird.

Watcha Workin' On? Blocks for Bug

I recently saw at an antique display some kids blocks. This particular display spelled out pumpkin patch with the blocks. There was a set that said love, and a few others. They were the old wood kind. But this one set caught my eye as they were the kind with paper pictures on them. I thought about them all the way home. I remember getting a set in a very small wagon. A circus theme. Anyway, with all the scrap paper I have from my mixed media pieces, I decided to cut them up and make something fun for my little love bug and I to play with. So ... the picture above. So super simple and fun. Lot's of cutting. I even used some old kids books that were in really rugged shape. I am in the process of adding the alphabet, just stickers. Then one last coat of "Mod Podge" and ta da!!!

I'm straightening and cleaning in the studio today. Things never get back where they go when I'm creating and playing. I want to be neat and organized, but it never happens. Snips, crumples, drips and it just never ends. But ... I'm getting a handle on it today.
I finished some little tiny pumpkin painting. My friend, the crafty truck driver got them for us at a little stand in her travels. I hope to post a picture later today. Send well wishes to her from my side bar, Brens Busy Hands. She fell on the job and messed up her wrist and arm and ... the worst part, she can't be very creative. I know she'd love to hear from you and is watching us all create and stopping by our blogs.

Painting On a Witch's Boot

Wow! What a busy weekend. I had my little princess of joy for two nights. Grandpa was in Missouri getting ready for opening goose season, Mommy and Nana were enjoying Chicago with friends and their kids. So ... we played, ate, slept and I wouldn't trade a weekend like that for all the money in China. She is getting to the busy age, crawl, a few steps, in the cupboards, bottom drawers, cardboard boxes, and she cracks herself up. She giggles at every accomplishment, and loves to make me laugh too. Which she does A LOT!
Anyway, I did get a little painting done. I brought out one of a set of boots I got on Spoon River. Tall black boots. WITCHES BOOTS. Well that's what I turned one of them into. I have included some pictures. I need to get some dried flowers or sweet annie to have coming from the top. In my blog hopping I saw one painted with a scene. It was a short (ankle) boot. So ... I had to too. I used a crackle medium and antique gel to tone down the painted scene. I'm really loving crackling. Pictures aren't the greatest, double click for a better look ... sorry!

I'm hoping to get some more playing done yet today. Until later, keep creating your own joy. Hug,P

The Final 25 Cent Piece

I had so much playing with this piece. I tried a one step Deco Arts Crackle on this and then antiqued it. I'm in love with this crackle medium and won't switch again. So super easy. Anyway ... this is it, and the witch will turn into my kitchen witch after Halloween. Mr. Wonderful won't know what to do with two witches in his kitchen. LOL

I knew my friend Bren would love it. She's crazy about Halloween too. Maybe it can be a hand me down some day. She brought me the most darling real tiny pumpkins from New York. White and orange. Wee jacks. I'm going to paint them for us. I'll post soon. Watcha' Working On hasn't happened today. I'll be starting something new this weekend though. Until then, xxx P

Before and After for 25 Cents

On our weekend outing to Spoon River, we stopped at some yard sales and I picked up this awesome wood item. I don't know what to call it. I thought when I saw it I could maybe keep scrap art paper and stuff in it. Then as I was working on it, I decided to make it for my kitchen counter as a mail organizer. I started painting a folkart scene and added some ball feet.
I had no particular scene planned, just started sketching on top of some decoupaged papers.

I will share my finished product tomorrow evening, I have to get some laundry folded and a few other domestic goddess chores done. We played all weekend and I didn't get everything done I wanted to. Worth it! LOL Until later, xx P

No Sun ... Loads of Fun

We headed out on a dreary morning with two other couples to enjoy Spoon River Drive. It is an annual Fall (always the first two full weekends in Oct.) drive through several burgs along the Spoon River, just east of us. It was a misty, dreary, damp cold day. Icky! So ... we had to make our own sunshine with lots of laughs and goofing around. Boy we were good at that. I was truly exhausted from laughing all day and shopping. I hope to show you a few of my treasures and ideas tomorrow. For now, I have a picture of The Little Red Barn. They have free roaming chickens wondering around outside their antiques and junk treasures place. I have never seen a chicken eat pumpkins, but they appeared to love them.

I didn't get my Fall Gathering picture sent off to Char at the Pickled Pepper Patch for her slide show. So I'm sharing it now. You can see my new whimsical garden flag. I got it put out this morning. Also, my biggest treasure from Spoon River is my great big salt box house, that is to serve as a night light on the deck. I just fell in love with it and I knew if we didn't get it, I would regret it. So...everyone kidded me about loading it home. Said they couldn't buy anything, because I hogged all the space. But, with a little organization, we all got out treasures home. LOL We've been packed in tighter before, so I just tuned them out. The guys of course think we're crazy, but an awesome huge saltbox house makes it worth all the teasing. Well, I'm working on a 25 cent bargain today. I'll take before and after.

Dreaming of Halloween

Another work in progress. She's from Stacy Nash. I love her cross stitch patterns. I think I've said that before. She will be a pinkeep for a friend. I need a gift for Oct. and this will be perfect. Stacy's items work up reasonably fast and darling. I love the really old prim designs she comes up with.
Mr. Wonderful, Our princess of joy and I had a busy day. We went to a local fruit farm for some fresh apples and their open farm day. It was wonderful to smell the apple butter cooking over and open fire. We brought home fresh apples, some different jams, sorghum and indian corn. We enjoyed a little concert from the very talented side of my husbands family. LOL We can't carry a tune in a bucket. His cousin and her family, can fiddle, strum, drum and sing. They just look at an instrument and can play. It was in his home town of Carman and drew a wonderful crowd, on a beautiful day. Our little princess loves music and clapped and squealed and shook her boody. Pretty funny to watch.

Modge Podge Mood

First, help? ... I can't find my 10 followers. They seem to have disappeared. It happened before too. I can't remember how I got them back. Any help appreciated. Darn!
I'm on a new adventure with my Christmas Pixies. I haven't gotten pictures yet, but soon. I'm on to larger pieces with fun techniques and learned techniques offered on You-tube and different artists inspiration. I also found the most fun place to visit at http://modpodgerocks.blogspot.com/ Copy and paste to your browser. Amy makes Mod Podge Rock. Right now I'm into cutting some pieces for future use. Reminds me of cutting for applique. Very similar pieces can be done with paper. I decided to share a work in progress (AWIP)
This is the most fun I've had trying a new to me style. Kind of inspired by Lisa Kaus' work. She does the most amazing pieces. So ... I have a few other ideas to play with, maybe some gifts. Thanks for all of you stopping by and nice comments and emails, greatly appreciated. Until later, :) P

Fun Night at the Fiesta

We headed to Ft. Madison Iowa just across the river for some great food at the Mexican Fiesta Friday night. It's been going on for as long as I can remember. While we don't go every year, it seemed to have drawn a huge crowd this year. Probably because it was a gorgeous evening and the food was outstanding. It is a lot of local people sharing their recipes in tacos, enchilada, burritos and tons of other offerings. We tend to go to the same places. We usually have to stand in line for quite some time, as they are just Mom & Pop operations and make it when you order. DELICIOUS!!! You know the popular great places by the length of the line by their establishment.
Yesterday, the hub and I cleaned up around the garage did some caulking, painted the exposed cement blocks so it now looks completely finished on the outside. I'm stiff as a board this morning. I'm doing some stretching, a few domestic chores and then ... to the studio. Some straightening and then hopefully the Christmas pixies or something creative will come out and play. Have a great ending to your weekend. :) P

The Last of My Boos

This is the last of my little Witchys 2009. My little Art Card is hanging out in the Ebay world, to be observed, admired and hopefully loved enough to find a permanent home.
Just checking in on some of my favorite places. Beth over at The Twist Family blog, is having some of her stitched pieces and patterns being represented at a national show and sale in St. Charles. I love her cross stitch designs and I'm patiently waiting for her new Christmas booklet to come out. I'm sure it will be a hit. Congratulations Beth and now several thousand people will love your work and you'll get in tons of shops. You go girl. If you love prims and old style needle work, you will love visiting her site.
