Amazing Stitches

I was surfing and googling some cross stitch history. Another thing I like to do. Ha. I found this little bit of information interesting and the stitched piece is amazing. Catherine Archer, an orphan, stitched this sampler while she was living at Ashley Down Orphanage, one of the Müller orphanages in Bristol, UK. Catherine's original sampler was worked on ecru non-evenweave linen in one strand of red thread. The design was worked over one thread of the fabric: equivalent to 45 stitches to the inch! This is even more amazing when you consider that Catherine had no electric light or magnifier. A neat place to visit http://www.thecrossstitchguild.com/index.asp

I'll post some finished stitches soon. I want to sew them into something. I might have to call on "Door Handle I" she's the sewing guru of our team. Are ya out there good buddie? She speaks CB pretty well. Hug, :o) P
